  • Our first wearer - Lianne Eaton from Care First at Taranaki Falls.

Wow, what a start to the 2 week journey of “The Bracelet”.  Over the weekend Lianne had the pleasure of spending time with a group of 7 women who regularly meet as a bookclub, and also have an annual weekend away to Ohakune.  The group has known each other for a long period of time, some of them for 20 years.  As a result “The Bracelet” was part of lots of laughter, talking and eating.  It wasn’t an idle weekend though, as it skied its way down the slopes of Turoa, tried to do the same at Whakapapa and then walked for 2 hours to the Taranaki Falls near the Chateau where the photo was taken.
    Lianne Eaton – 4th–6th September 2009
  • 2nd wearer Beth Findlay - on air at More FM

“Good morning Taranaki, this is Beth from MoreFM, and today, you should see what is on my wrist…”
Yes, today “The Bracelet” has been on air on MoreFM on the Breakfast show.  Even Waggs took part by doing the honour of fitting the bracelet.
After a hard morning on air “The Bracelet” had a leisurely lunch overlooking our lovely walkway at Salt.  This was a breather before an afternoon at Pukekura Park with a group of children and parents brought together by the sheer delight of parenthood at similar times.  After collecting children from Daycare it was another well earned rest at the NP District Library before reluctantly returning it for another wearer tomorrow.Beth Findlay – 7th September 2009
  • 3rd Wearer Irena Brooks - At Mum's place

Today ‘The Bracelet’ took part in various birthday celebrations for LIVE Editor, Irena Brooks. An identical twin, Irena’s day kicked off with a bit of body boarding with her twin sister, Julia Dolan, at Fitzroy Beach. Even though The Bracelet had been skiing a couple of days ago, Irena wasn’t about to risk it in the surf! But it was back on for a beautiful run up Te Henui walkway, with all the blossoms out and the sun shining on a glorious spring day.
Finally it was tea and cakes at “Mum’s place”, reminiscing about her days as an evacuee during WW2, before The Bracelet was returned to Dalgleish Jewellers in time for the next wearer to collect it …
    Irena Brooks - 8th September 2009
  • 4th wearer - Kathleen Moriarty at Taranaki Dragons AGM
The last 24 hours have been busy for “The Bracelet” with many outings.  The first was a celebration and AGM of the first full year of competition for the Taranaki Dragons, a Breast Cancer Survivor and Supporters Dragon Boating Team.  Here the group was entertained by Francoir, a dragon boat builder, who is a recent arrival in Taranaki.
It was then some time for work at WITT where the Early Childhood Students drooled over it…
From here it was time to celebrate again to welcome back her son from Japan who has been involved with a successful sailing campaign as a sighted tactician with the Blind Sailing team.
After this it needed some time to exercise with a workout at Curves Gym in Bell Block before having a celebratory family roast dinner.
    Kathleen Moriarty - 9th September 2009
  • 5th wearer - Suzanne Shaw at the Le Rev perfume party

Another day, another busy day…  Today “The Bracelet” has met a lot of people and been drooled over a lot!!!  It started at Taranaki Daily News where it toured the building and staff before heading to Lander and Black for more oohing and aahing and then a singing session.  After all the attention it was time for a break at Petit Paris with good friends before an afternoon meeting at Fairfield Gardens.
It was then an evening of sensory overload with “The Bracelet” visually impressing people at an impressive smelling Le Rev perfume party.
  • Suzanne Shaw – 10th September 2009
  • 6th wearer-Christine Gray with Sarah Ulmer at Merrilands New World.

WOW….what a busy day!  “The Bracelet” and I had lots of fun and were pretty busy all day.  Wearing the bracelet was wonderful, so many people constantly asking about it!
Anyway, our day… well it was full on all day and night.  Sarah Ulmer turned up to the Supermarket and had a photo with the bracelet and loved the whole idea! We went to lunch with her and 8 others and then back to work with customers and staff asking about “The Bracelet” for the rest of the day.  After work the bracelet and I headed to the gym… the bracelet worked very hard too!!!  Next we were out to dinner in town for the night where we met up with friends and had a lovely night.
So thanks for an exciting day bracelet, we both had fun, me and the bracelet!

  • 7th Wearer -Shelley McDougall in store at Dalgleish Jewellers
Over the weekend “The Bracelet” was part of a ‘Women of Substance’ pink afternoon tea held by Shelley in the Old Bank Building in Inglewood. The pink theme included pink decorations, pink food and pink drinks and I imagine a lot of pink talk and laughter!!  The strong group of characters from 35-90 were all survivors in some way. They had all been invited by Shelley as they had each had a positive influence on her at some point in her life.  The guests all received their own Pandora Box on arrival and agreed the afternoon gathering had reinforced how each other had touched their lives and pulled them together.

On Sunday “The Bracelet” was working at Open Homes with Ray White Real Estate and being admired by young and old…
    Shelley McDougall – 19th-20th September
  • 8th Wearer - Tina Hillier from Merrilands Pharmacy with "The Pink Ladies"

Today “The Bracelet” had a busy day at work at Merrilands Pharmacy with Tina.  As it was dropped off the staff could be heard “Let me see, ohhh look….”.  The evening was another night of talking, laughter and food when it went out with “The Pink Ladies” for dinner.  “The Pink Ladies” is a group of Breast Cancer Survivors and Supporters who have been meeting regularly for the last 10 years, having fun together and supporting each other in a number of activities including the annual Relay for Life Run.  So, after a night of fun and laughter it was passed on for another adventure…
  • Tina Hillier – 14th September 2009
  • 9th Wearer Carol Morgan at Dalgleish Pandora window.
Today “the bracelet” was working….  It spent the day with Carole from Radioworks, and did it visit a lot of places!!!  It did have a lunch break to meet up with Carole’s sister and then back on the road it went!!  It met a lot of different people today though, it met a lot of men in their workplaces.  Here’s hoping that some of these men got a great gift idea for wives, partners, girlfriends, mothers, daughters…. as Carole flashed “the bracelet” around while rolling out the great benefits of starting on a bracelet for your loved one….

  • 10th Wearer - Ruth Smolenski at work at Poppies book store.

Today “The Bracelet” spent the day with Ruth at Poppies Books having a whole lot of fun with customers.  Ruth felt like she was a link in a chain as everywhere she went or when people came into the shop, they all knew already that she had “The Bracelet” for the day.Tara Jahn-Werner the author of ‘The Illustrated History of Dance in NZ’ was in store and created some excitement. “The Bracelet” is becoming a regular at Petit Paris for lunch, it will need its own coffee card!! By the end of the day there was sadness that “The Bracelet” had to be handed back ready for its next adventure…..
  • Ruth Smolenski - 16th September 2009
  • 11th wearer Kate MacFarlane and Leanne from Et Vous.
After a two hour delay at New Plymouth Airport “The Bracelet” finally took off on its out of town adventure to Auckland.  It was lucky enough to spend the day with Kate and Leanne from Et Vous viewing the new seasons range from Trelise Cooper.   This was a really special visit for the bracelet as Trelise Cooper is involved heavily with the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation as a Patron.

After a busy day of viewing it returned to New Plymouth to be thoroughly admired and touched by two keen daughters!!
  • Kate MacFarlane – 17th September 2009
  • 12th wearer - Lenise Young at work with Renee at Merrilands Pharmacy

Today “The Bracelet” was on the last chapter of its adventure, and what a lot of people it has met and places it has been!!  Lenise took “The Bracelet” on air with her to More FM with Waggs and Beth and it learnt about men’s fragrances – it hasn’t been around too many of those fragrances over the last 14 days!!  It was then off to work at Lenise Young Pharmacy in Centre Centre where again it was admired by many, before heading up for its second trip to Merrilands Pharmacy.  All this work…. It must be time it goes to its new owner and lead a life of leisure……just on one wrist!
